Hi guys! Just wanted to do a quick post from the hospital suite tonight to let you know that Baby Boy Batchelor is here! I am almost positive we're going to name him Cole, but we don't know about a middle name yet. Maybe tomorrow. Anyway....
He was born at 9:05am this morning, weighing in at 8 lbs., 2 oz. and 20-1/4" long. Both Mom and baby are doing great! He has been sleeping most of the day, so maybe that means he is going to be a good sleeper! Or..... it could mean that he is going to be up all night. if I had to bet, I'd go with the latter one.
Here is the first picture I took after the delivery, but I took it on my phone. I'll post more tomorrow once I get them off the camera. Anyway, thanks for all your thoughts and prayers! We'll be in touch soon!
Remember back to those days of yonder, when life was simpler and everyone didn't have Blackberries or Bluetooth earpieces attached to their heads? It was the days of Saturday morning cartoons, Atari Asteroids and rolled up jeans and t-shirts. And what did every boy look forward to? The Pinewood Derby!!
We had a ward Pinewood Derby this weekend, and while our entry was not the fastest, I think it was certainly the most creative. I remember my mom helping me create a similar car when I was younger (we didn't have the tools we needed to make a really fast car). Our car (or wagon) was destined to be slow, but I did beat a couple of the younger kids' cars. Take that 8-year olds!
The kids had a great time painting it, and I spent the better part of an evening creating the canopy frame out of clothes hangers, then actually sewed the canopy on. The early Pioneers would be proud. I lost both the races in the men's open division finals, but we had a blast!

Those of you who know us well know we bleed Carolina Blue (well, I bleed it out of one arm, and have ECU Pirate purple in the other, but that is the topic of another post).
So it was with great enjoyment that we watched Carolina beat Duke on their Senior night Saturday. We started watching the game upstairs, to make sure the kids were going to stay asleep, and when the Heels went up 10-5 early, Lynell suggested that we keep watching the game where we were, because they were winning and we didn't want to jinx it! Gosh, I love that woman more and more every day!
Needless to say, our friends that are at Duke now, or are graduates (this means you Jason!) are a little blue today, but that's OK. And just to make sure you remember this game, I'll include a little picture. Mr. Paulus won't be forgetting this anytime soon.
(And yes, for the record, I thought it was a charge, too. But no whistle means no foul, baby!)

UPDATE: We are scheduled for a C-section on March 21st now. We are the first case, so baby Batchelor should be here around 8:00am that day!
Most of you know that Lynell is pregnant with our third little one. So far, so good, as she has really had a great pregnancy (not counting the 10 weeks of nausea). We have been very blessed with Ashton and Ethan, and we are hoping that this one is healthy, too.
We'll find out tomorrow if we're going to have this one naturally or via C-section, so this date might change some. But at least this gives us some time to decide on a name. We might end up waiting until we see him before we name him. So far we just haven't been able to come up with a name that we both like.
Anyone have any suggestions?
